After the game-winning goal by Joel Ward against the Bruins on Wednesday night sent the Capitals to the play-offs, Twitter became ablaze with racial epithets toward the player. Ward was unaware until a teammate shared it on the plane ride home.

This is not the first time social media has been used to disseminate hate. I am unsure why it was not flagged or taken down as is done by other e-media vehicles…
