A Morning Walk

Ankle weights, sunblock and a liter of water.
I walk away from the noise of life
Into my thoughts and mental stillness.
I commune with the air, grass and trees
And am thankful that I appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds me.
The water waves and laps
And calms my restless spirit.
An occassional jogger or biker whiz by nodding a silent hello.
Screams and laughter ride the breeze
From chubby brown children running across a field
Plaits bobbing in the wind as happy tears stream down faces.
My heart swells with love for my community.
A morning walk restores my balance.
