A 29 year-old volleyball coach and science teacher, Cathy Samford, was fired from a Texas Christian school last fall for violating the morality clause of her employment contract: she was single and pregnant. Samford led the volleyball program for three years and was named the Coach of the Year for the 2010-2011 season.

Heritage Christian Academy maintains that her out-of-wedlock pregnancy is immoral and that teachers are “ministers in the classroom.” Mediation has failed and Samford is headed to court.

Wow, 39 weeks pregnant with no health coverage… I agree with Samford, not a very Christian thing to do.
