A new phenomenon to cover tuition: female students securing Sugar Daddies online.

This particular site pairs young women with older men of means. They are paid for companionship and yes, sex. Now I know this arrangement is as old as time. The economy is tough. Money for school is limited. With that said, I can not articulate the visceral reaction I had reading this.

What struck me about this article is not only the prevelance of similar sites but the rationalization of the site’s creator. I was also saddened by the explosive growth of college students as users.

I don’t know whether to address the ridiculous costs of higher education, the variety of risks that await these young women- from violence to disease- or the calculated capitalism from which these sites originate, despite the philanthropic claims of the founders…
